Environmental certifications

Junnikkala aims to manage and reduce any harmful effects of logging and transport on the environment, on the multiple use of forests, on the landscape, and experienced by neighbours. We have received PEFC certification for chain of custody management of wood under Annex 4.

Sustainable forestry

It is important for us to ensure that forests remain for future generations. Therefore, various environmental certifications, such as PEFC certification, are an integral part of our work. Forestry certifications demonstrate our sustainable use of forests.

Sustainable forestry means treating forests in an ecologically, economically and socially sustainable manner. We strive to contribute to maintaining diversity in forests and work for the culture- and recreation-related values of forests, in addition to engaging in well-organised, systematic forestry.

Environmental certifications to guarantee responsible sourcing of wood

We apply an environmental management system that is based on the ISO 14001:2015 standard. In addition, we apply the PEFC ST 2002:2013 and PEFC ST 2001:2008 v2 standards to the verification of the chain of custody of wood.

By verifying the chain of custody, we ensure that the wood we use for further processing comes from certified forests. Good management of environmental matters is ensured through environmental assessments and via internal and external inspections.
