Why sell wood to us?

Our timber procurement is based on confidential long-term co-operation with forest owners, benefiting both parties.

Our forestry department is in charge of raw material procurement

Log yields from our logging operations are known to be very high. This translates to significant financial benefits for both the seller and Junnikkala. The experts with our forestry department act as a link between the sawmill and the forest owners within their respective areas of expertise.

The forest experts in our forestry department are highly motivated and well-trained forestry professionals. They are familiar with the management of commercial forests and with local environmental conditions. in addition, they take into account the issues that are important for each party with regard to timber transactions and the logistics of harvesting.

Top-quality wood procurement

Our forestry department does its part to ensure continuous supply and high quality of timber. The total annual volume procured by our forestry department is approximately 500,000 cubic metres. Of this amount, softwood logs account for approximately 320,000 cubic metres (60% pine, 40% spruce).

Partnership with local logging contractors

We employ local contractors who act as our long-term partners and follow the Junnikkala quality-management and environmental policies.

The harvesting and transport are performed with the forwarder supply chains and timber trucks of our skilled contractors, in accordance with our sawmill’s ISO-9001-based quality-management system. In addition, we require our contractors to contribute to social sustainability by fulfilling their statutory obligations as employers.
